Hui-Chuan Chen was born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan and began piano lessons at age six. After graduating from a high school for young musicians, she entered the National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei. In the spring of 2010, Hui-Chuan won the Wonderlic piano competition. Before this, she won second place in the Kaohsiung City Competition, third prize in the University Piano Competition and placed fourth in the Kawai Competition. She has performed widely throughout the United States, Europe and Asia and participated in many festivals, including the Chigiana Accademia in Siena, Italy; Universität Mozateum in Salzburg; Aspen Festival; Songfest; and Bargemusic. Hui-Chuan has studied with many great musicians, including pianists Leon Fleisher and Sergei Dorensky and has coached chamber music with artists such as Christian Tezlaff, Pamela Frank, Victor Danchenko, and Martin Katz. She received her Master of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Music and is currently finishing her Doctorate of Musical Arts degree there while teaching piano minor students at the Peabody Institute.
