Gail D. Vehslage received her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music, studying with William Hebert, and her Master's Degree in Flute Performance from San Diego State University, studying with Roger Stevens. She pursued additional graduate flute studies with renowned teachers: Ransom Wilson, Julius Baker, Betty Bang Mather, Damien Bursill Hall, and William Grass. She has performed as principal flutist and concerto soloist with the Hawaii Philharmonic, the Hawaii Chamber Orchestra, the San Diego Opera Orchestra, the Santa Cruz Symphony, and the Hidden Valley Chamber Orchestra in Carmel, California. In 1997 she founded the Chesapeake Flute Consort, in which she plays and directs. Ms. Vehslage also founded and is director of the highly successful Flute Fever Summer Music Camp, which celebrated its eleventh year in 2014. Currently Gail is an active freelance performer in the Baltimore-Washington, DC area. In addition, she conducts two flute choirs for the Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestra and maintains a large private flute studio.
